Hi Everyone - I’m Joan and I am a writer. (Yes, that was once hard for me to say, but I write because a writer cannot not write.) I live in East Texas and have been married to my husband, John for twenty-eight years and I work full time in a local hospital. I have been blogging for three years, mostly devotionals and inspirational stories, but am currently on an extended blogging break. Jeff’s Writers Manifesto helped me realize that I needed to get back to the joy of writing.

I’ve always had a desire to write fiction and I’m taking this course to help me discover my writing voice and to learn more ways to improve my craft.

    Hi everyone!

My name is Rick Gibbs and I live in the Bronx, NY. I work as a Performance Specialist for Insperity, a company that provides human resources services for small to medium sized businesses. I have done some blogging for the company and authored a few articles on human resource topics for various local business publications. I’d like to step accross the “company line” and branch into other areas. I would like to do what many of you have done-start a blog and perhaps gain some followers. I need some help in pulling the trigger….

I’m looking forward to the journey!

    Hello Jeff and everyone,
Jeff, we know eachother for a while. I learned from you more than any one else and I am grateful to be here.
I read all the introductory comments and I am pleased to meet all of you…Looking forward to getting to know you better.

My name is Katina. I am from Greece but have been living in Chicago for 47 years. I have 4 children and 9 grandchildren. I love reading and writing, which I have been doing for a long time. A while ago I was coaxed in affirming that “I am a writer” and now I am almost ready to publish.
My book is about my journey during this one year of my life, after an emergency hip revision that left me in the wheel chair for over 2 months.
I aspire to inspire people to take the journey with me as we travel through the seasons, to nourish and nurture ourselves with good healthy food, with the beauty of the moment, connecting to our higher self, to others, to nature, to the divine.
I haven’t been able to work on creating a Tribe…no website yet, not many twitter friends…not even in facebook. I don’t know how to add my photo to any of these media. I guess I have a lot to learn.
You can get in touch with me on:

Looking forward to getting to know you all,

    Good day all,
My name is Bart and I’m passionate about history. Not just the textbook variety, but the history found in the bits and pieces of ephemera tossed aside and quickly forgotten.

I don’t Twitter, the only website and Facebook outlets I have are for my business and I don’t have a blog - yet. But, if anyone is interested, I can be contacted via email [email protected]

I look forward to being a part of this community and learning all I can.

    Have a great day.

    Friends,

I’m a marketing consultant and copywriter in Buffalo, N.Y. A defined purpose to share my ideas with the world through speaking and writing has awoken from it’s salty slumber; it’s time to get to work. With a biting anticipation I await Jeff’s instruction and the opportunity to collaborate with all of you.

At the conclusion of this course, I’m going to be ‘doin’ the damned thing’. (In the ring, challenged, fighting, exposed, vulnerable and fully-exhilarated…) And I wish nothing less for each of you.

    No more flinching.

    Best wishes,

    CJ

Howdy! I’m Mindy Bowman from Crystal Beach, FL and you can find me blogging at http://newequus.wordpress.com.

I’m looking forward to improving my writing. I’ve been blogging for about five months now and I feel like I’m starting to find my voice and my “niche” but we are all works in progress and I’m all about streamlining and making things better!

I’m super busy most of the time so I’m hoping to be able to squeeze this in between all my normal stuff. It was a hard decision time-wise but one I don’t think I’ll be sad I made!

Hello everyone, my name is Nick Ortega. I have always imagined myself a writer, but God has been stirring me around a lot lately, and one thing I realized is I ONLY imagined writing - I have not put any useful words down since high school. I have just started doing the real work, and this course is part of that work.

I invite you all to connect, comment, critique…and I hope I may do the same with you. Looking forward to it all!

    Hi,

Great to be here with you lovely people.

I’m based in Sydney and definitely looking forward to getting back into writing - for pleasure; for money; for cookies. I am currently unemployed so I really don’t have any excuses for not doing my set homework (I may find one anyway).

    Things I like:
    - Buying gadgets and IT gear
    - Complaining about gadgets and IT companies
    - Over 60% Cocoa chocolate - preferably Hazelnut
    - The movie Adaptation - Every writer must see this!
    - The TV series, Red Dwarf
    - 10 hours minimum of sleep

Wishing everyone best of luck and hope you find what you’re looking for.

    Regards

    Vincent

I am jazzed reading the intros of all you Tribe Writers! Keen to learn more of your stories.

Pilar, I will keep an eye out for more about you. Robbie, your “wake-up call” I am curious about that.

Alene, Dave , hope you can include some of your pics in your posts. And Julie, owner of horses and horse trailers, you are living my childhood dream.

I coveted a horse trailer the way the farmers around here covet combines, limp limbed and breathing heavy, oh baby.

I wanted to go places with my horse. When I was ten I went riding alone—free! I felt like a Nanrian princess, or, at least I would have if I read books and knew what Narnia was. I was a remedial kid, we don’t read for fun (we don’t read at all, because we can’t, might as well be honest). Besides I had a world lit up with color, other people could only see in black and white, poor them.

My dad tried to help me. He took me to the library and read me Black Beauty, I liked that. But I never read on my own. Until grade seven, I read The Outsiders. Awesome. Pony Boy! Love that character.

Jeff, if I am getting smarter, and I hope I am, I would take your advice find some act of kindness to do for Julie. A favor. But not to get closer to the horse trailer, I don’t have horses anymore I have kids. What I want after is the hidden knowledge, Julie is a: Copyeditor. She sees the code. Knows what I don’t know (and you know I don’t know it too if you have read this far).

Now, I wish to see in black and white.

Hi, my name is Michelle McCaffrey, and I‘m from Tampa, Florida. The passion of my life is to come alongside others on their spiritual journey for the purpose of helping them understand who they are in Christ, the role they have to play in His Epic story, and the unique way they were created and gifted for this purpose. A few years ago, God called me to “build an ark,” a ministry/organization called Foundations in Truth. I had no idea at the time what he had in mind for it. Now I have the vision but no clue how to make it happen.

I don’t know if I am a writer. I am a retreat leader/workshop presenter. I will be a spiritual director, but I feel I need training before I can say “I am a spiritual director.” I am in seminary pursuing a Master’s Certificate in Spiritual Transformation which will be completed in July 2013. At that time I will work towards spiritual director training. Writing is an essential tool in my ministry. I need to develop content, write curriculum, create presentations. My writing skills are adequate, but I feel I am lacking creativity that will inspire and draw the reader in. I have a website and a quasi-blog. I don’t post regularly at all, mostly because I hate the white page. And while I have a lot of folks who love me and believe in what I am called to do, I don’t have a tribe yet.

So here I am. I think this course is a perfect opportunity for me. My concern is my ability to keep up between my full time job (as a legal assistant which sucks all creativity out of me) and my seminary program. I am going to give it my best effort because I think a huge part of this course will be the interactions with all of you.

    Hello Tribers!

Glad this has finally launched. WTG Jeff!

I am a blogger and writer living in Portland,OR. I decided at age 40 that to start writing on purpose. I did the 2y What’s Your Story? online course through Christian Writers Guild. Got a great foundation through that, though i def started to wonder if I was “christian enough” to brand myself as a Christian writer. Eight years later, the verdict is still out on that.

I published my first book earlier this year through assisted self-publishing. I learned a lot from that, too, and as a result I now have the confidence to self-publish on my own.

I live in Portland,OR with husband Jerry. We have two teenagers, one who just entered college this year. I work part-time in patient food service at a hospital. My goal for registering with Tribes is to learn from Jeff and the rest of the Tribe how to continue to extend my reach and build up the Pam tribe. I’ve been blogging for years with very modest success, but it is steady and slowly but surely I am connecting to more readers. I would like to monetize my voice through digital publishing and create some income to help pay for my kids college. My husband and I did not go to university so this is a major goal in our family. Nothing like the pressure of a goal for your child to help increase writing output!!

Besides hoping to build up myself as a digital writer, I really do love to write and blog. It’s where I feel the most fulfillment vocationally. If we are born for something, than I was born to write.

Looking forward to the next 8 weeks!
