I am Barbara. I live about 100 miles due south of Franklin, Tennessee, where Jeff lives. I am a Christian. I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I am a writer. Writing is the only thing I want to do, and oddly, I find it agonizing. I’ve got just about every “Writer’s on Writing” book ever written. I have loads of journals. I’ve written articles for my church and have written on online sites until I burned out. My desire to write and my self-esteem bump heads all the time. It’s a war, and I desperately want writing to win.

Work history: briefly taught high school, GED, was a Child Protective Services Social Worker, taught life skills and managed computer training at a rescue mission, and helped homeless people obtain and sustain permanent housing. I’ve always written journals, but never felt good enough to go further. I’ve had a couple blogs but had no idea what I was doing and became bored with them. I keep hearing “you’re never to old to make your dreams come true.” I’m banking on that. I hope this course will serve me well. Blessings to everyone here.

Maybe the first from the Old Continent to join - if not so, let me know - I am looking forward to see whether the principles taught can be used in another language, namely German.

Hi. I am from Switzerland. You can find me on my blog - don’t worry, that one is in English. I am a teacher in the body of Christ and want to learn to share more effectively.

For many years I have worked as a computer programmer, first running from my calling, then preparing for it. Now the time has come. I will be full-time writer and teacher starting next month. Being in an apostolic network spanning the world, originating in Canada, writing in English and traveling will be a large part of what I will be doing.

On twitter I am @rrickenbach. Feel free to contact me by mail.

    Blessings y’all.

Hi everyone. (Gee, written intros feel awkward. Good think I signed up for this. Looks like I need it!)

I’m Staci Troilo. Originally I’m from Western Pennsylvania, but through many moves, I’m now a resident of Fayetteville, Arkansas. I’m a trained professional writer, but I’m currently not employed as such (although I do write freelance occasionally) and now I’m pursuing my dream of becoming a published author. I have published a few short stories and I have a novel being reviewed by a publisher, but nothing is concrete yet.

You can learn more about me at http://stacitroilo.com/ Hopefully we’ll chat more soon!

    Hi everyone!

I’m so excited to be here. About two years ago, during one of my morning “walks with God,” I got the clear message that what I am to do next in my life is to write: Write books, and share them with the world. The impression was that I’m here to have impact on a big scale, and quite frankly, that scared the sh*t out of me. My response? “Um, yeah, right, God. I think you’ve got the wrong girl.”

So, I ran in the other direction, and started doing everything but what I’d been told. (A rebel, I know.) And then … life got hard. Meaning, I got scary-sick. Car accidents. Hard drive crashed. Web sites hacked. My life got turned upside down.

And after about two years of this, one night I sat down and journaled: The truth is ________. And after about three pages, I wrote: “The truth is, I really want to change the world, but first I need a vacation.” Hmm, I thought, that would be a neat name for a book. Maybe I should drop everything else, and just write about my experiences. And then I fell asleep.

I woke up the next morning driven crazy by complete stories being written in my head, stories that wanted to be told. Memories of my past. And it wouldn’t leave me alone until I finally just sat down and started writing them. Ten thousand words later, I stopped for the day, and thought, “Hmm … that was easy.”

Then, I met Jeff Goins - I think it was on Twitter. And his irresistible message: You are a writer. So start acting like one. And I remembered that walk with God, two years and a few scars later, and I thought, hmm. Maybe it’s true. Maybe I’m a writer. And so, here I am!

Thanks for listening to my ramblings ….

I’m Sandy Pipkin, seemingly confidant, mature adult struggling to keep an awkward, introverted child locked up inside, while learning to express an integrated message of who I am because of who God is.
I’ve just barely begun my second blog at http://www.sandypipkin.com/. You can email me at [email protected]. I look forward to connecting with you.

My journey has included reading, crafting, vocal music, art, church involvement, sewing, homemaking, home-schooling, retail, commission sales, sales management, training, and encouraging people to progress toward the person they are called to be.
And, the river flowing through all of it that connects all the parts of me, is writing. I was a member of North Texas Professional Writers Association, until I moved to south Texas. Apart from journaling, I’ve written poetry, humor, short stories, blogs, lyrics, essays, but i do have some books still in the “brewing” stage.

I love reading fiction that is more true than a true story, that illustrates through a story line eternal truths in such an engrossing way that a reader may unexpectedly confront Truth in a personal way.

My goal is to be able to express the unique message God has given to me in a way that will instigate a specific change in a reader; from doubt to faith, from helpless to confidant, from discouraged to hopeful.

My personal motto is this: “Choose your vision. Look for the good things. You will always see more of what you’re looking for.”

    Hello Fellow Tribe Members,

This is Brad Roderick from the heartland of America… aka, Kansas. Father of two, spouse of one and “Coolest Grandpa of the Coolest Grandson”. Yes, that is an official title. I’ve written and published a number of articles related to sales, marketing and general leadership for several trade journals and have been fortunate to be blessed with an amazing editor. Looking forward to learning from everything and contributing where I can. PS: If you haven’t read, “Wrecked”, what are you waiting for? Great read and even better provocateur.

    Hello,

My name is Stephanie and I live in the Boston area. I have long considered myself a writer but have never zeroed in on a target subject or audience! I hope to clarify these for myself through this course and interacting with others of you out there, engaged in a similar process. I love cold-water open swimming and biking and yoga. I read lots of newspapers and publications as well as lots of fiction and non-fiction. May the Force be with us all!

    Hi Everyone!
I am Sue Dieffenbach and I’m an RN and a clinical nutritionist from San Diego. I have been in the business of using food to help people heal for a long time but my business coach tells me that if I want to expand my business from 1:1 consultations to speaking I need to start blogging, build a tribe and write a book. I’m very comfortable speaking to large groups but seem to clam up when I get to the keyboard….I have never thought of myself as a writer and I really struggle to get anything written. I’m hoping that this course and interactions with all of you writers will help me get past this. I’m scared and very self conscious, but really excited to try.

My name is Alan and I live in Greenville, South Carolina. I’ve spent almost 50 years in commercial radio. I began as an announcer while still in high school.

After 7 years behind a microphone, I moved to sales. My career has included working as a street warrior, sales manager, market manager and owner. I hung it up in April 2012.

In August, I launched my website, http://www.saleshertbeat.com. My purpose is to provide sales tip and how-to training to men and women in media sales.

I have a passion for sharing what I’ve been taught, what I am continuing to learn and hope to learn as long as my Lord allows me time and health on this earth.

As Jeff would tell me, “I AM a writer!” I will tell you I am a lousy one and I’m here to learn everything I can to make it better.

I’m looking forward to connecting with as many of you as I can.

Hi, I’m Julie. I live in Phoenix with my husband and four kids - two of which we adopted from Ethiopia 4 years ago.

Our adoption experience and our passion about living debt-free inspired me to write and self-publish a book “Adopt Without Debt: Creative Ways to Cover the Cost of Adoption”. It’s doing really well in the adoption circles - even got interviewed on the Dave Ramsey show. I’m actually talking with an agent now about shopping the book to traditional publishers which involved almost doubling the book content.

I blog at juliegumm.com on the subjects of adoption. affording adoption, adoptive family life and social justice.

I also travel around and do seminars for adoption agencies and non-profits to help people understand how they can afford adoption. I MAY love speaking even more than writing :-) I love encouraging adoptive families and answering questions about adoption - that’s my tribe!

As a journalism major most of my writing has been non-fiction but I have a fiction novel outlined (at least in my head) that I want to take a stab at. I feel woefully under qualified for that but it’s just one of those voices in my head I’m sure.

Howdy y’all. I’m Lisa Waszkiewicz. from Nashville, TN. I blog at Franny Bolsa. I write for myself and for others. I’m a story teller. I’m psyched to jump in and be a better writer. Not only for myself but for those who read my blog. I want to move from writing for joy to writing for joy and for work. It’s been a long and winding road to get here and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead.

Hi! I’m Harmony Harrison and I live on the beautiful Oregon coast with my husband of 12 years and our cats and dogs.

I’ve been writing now for 21 years (hard to believe, but true). I’m a former technical writer and have edited the socks off a few good books, but my first writing passion was poetry.

As far as blogging goes, I have tried many times to get into a blogging groove, but I keep shirking away from letting my writing run free online.

After a number of health challenges this year, I decided to stop pushing myself to blog, and start writing for me, and just for me. I returned to one of my dearest joys, my work with animals, to start my writing renaissance.

A few months ago, I wrote and published a PDF ebook called “The Beginner’s Guide to Animal Wisdom,” which teaches people how to communicate intuitively with animals, and consult the wisdom of animals for life guidance.

    (It’s free at http://www.harmonywithanimals.com, if you’re interested.)

Just last week, I started writing a memoir about learning how to communicate with animals. My voice in memoir writing is starting to blossom, and that fills me with so much joy. In that genre, my voice is poetic, authentic, and free.

Still, a part of me hungers to blog. I want to learn how to keep my voice strong, poetic, and true while blogging, letting my true strengths as a writer shine.

In the meantime, I’m wrestling with a few beliefs that whisper, “Online writing is brief and terse, and you should be too.”

I’m starting to believe that those whispers are wrong.

I’m here in this class to own my two decades of experience in this field of writing, and to claim my path as a writer, and to share my work unabashedly with the world.

In addition to my writing life and work with animals, I’m deeply in love with my husband, I hang out on the windy beaches here at home, and I practice several forms of energy healing. I’m also devoted to my inner spirituality and strong love of the divine.

I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone here!

Hello, I’m Fiona Mac. I live in blissful Soul-i-tude in Herefordshire on the border of Wales.

I am a writer, poet and author of ‘Ciderlore’ Cider in the Three Counties (Logaston Press), a cultural history of cider and perry during the 20th century. It’s worth noting that in the UK, cider (and perry made from pears) is alcoholic. Also that when Ciderlore was published, I felt that after twenty years of campaigning for craft cider I had done my bit for the local industry and completely gave up drinking.

As well as being a living oxymoron, I have a life long fascination with stories and storytelling from many cultures, traditions and spiritual beliefs. Having told hundreds of stories with puppets, around campfires, on stages, on buses, in theatres, in the street, in print and in conversational hypnosis, energy healing, embodied leadership and community development.

Although I’ve been online since the start of the internet, I’m only just beginning to find my writer’s voice online, get to grips with social media and connect with my Tribe through blogging, digital publishing and video. Through crafting stories, sharing skills and facilitating group experiences that immerse them deeply into the Soul of the Wild.
