Charlotte, I think you did a great job with that post. I’m not sure if you’re insecure because English just isn’t your first language or if you’re not sure about the grammar, but regardless, it’s a strong piece. It flows well and gets the point across. Well done!

Thank you SO, so much for your reply! It makes a tremendous difference from writing “in the dark”.

Hi Lotta and Jeff - sorry for getting into this left-over conversation. I haven’t read Lotta’s post yet (cant find it) - but I assume that I am in the same thought loop as Lottta is.

Jeff you might be able to help here: I am r/hesistant to write because I am unsure what my own voice in English really is? You know when you learn English in Australia you speak differently English as you would if you have learned English in the States. So my English is adaptable - how can I know what my writing voice is like?

Also: Can my thoughts flow naturally when I am writing in English? I learned once that you somehow change personality when you speak a different language that’s why I often doubt that my true me really can shine through when I am writing in English.

Alexa! I’m clearly not an expert in this area, but I love to help you because I know what it’s like to be confused in this matter. Somehow I just know in my heart that I need to write in english. Listen carefully to what your “inner voice” tells you. When you feel warm and safe about a thought, it is right. Try Jeffs great exercise about free-writing without editing. Post it here and others (me) can look at it. To me it was a huge relief that Jeff took his time to confirm my writing when he read the piece on my blog (sorry you couldn’t find it: http://www.lottawanner.wordpress.com). I send you a lot of: wish you all well!
